Three Oaks Studio is a collaborative space for photographers, filmmakers, and content creators of all backgrounds.
Three Oaks Studio is the brain-child of award-winning photographer Richard Barlow. After working out of a small space in downtown Raleigh for years, Richard found an 1,800 square foot studio space to call his own. The flexible studio gives Richard a home base for photography and content creation as well as providing the Raleigh-Durham area with a beautiful space to rent.
100 Word Summary
When Richard and I began discussing the project, he knew the name (Three Oaks Studio) and that he wanted typography to be the foundation of the visual identity. Originally, the logotype and the monogram were two different concepts, but were eventually combined to create a singular identity. I wanted the logotype to be elegant, yet simple — guiding consumers to learn the name of the studio. The monogram is essentially a compacted version of the logotype. Bringing it all together is the consistency of the “T” and “S” using the same terminal to create balance in both the logotype and monogram.
