Hi! My name is Matthew Norton; I’m a graphic designer currently pursuing a Masters of Graphic Design at NC State University.

I've always been creating something. In middle school I had an obsession with spray paint art; I learned to make planets, oceans, and stars using different splatter and smearing techniques. In high school I started making stencils with X-Acto knifes and creating DIY shirts for different camp or school events. My parents bought me my first MacBook when I was 14 and I began experimenting with iMovie and GIMP. And I always took the initiative on any project requiring layout or design work because I knew I would make it look good.

In 2012 I started school at the University of South Carolina and found the field of Visual Communications. I began learning about typography, white space, layout design, color theory, photography, and much more. Naturally, I began taking these skills and concepts and began applying them to my everyday work and projects.

After graduating in 2015, I expanded on my creative passion and continued to design things for myself, my friends, their friends, and anyone who I could help. I listened to hours upon hours of podcasts interviews and YouTube videos related to the design field.

In 2017, I decided to continue my design education by pursuing a Masters of Graphic Design at North Carolina State University. I'm currently in my second year (of three) as a MGD candidate.
