Keep Durham Beautiful focuses on impacting the city and community across their three focus areas of litter prevention, waste reduction, and community greening. The non-profit organizes volunteer events, provides supplies for community work days, and shares knowledge for residents to create impact on their own. Keep Durham Beautiful came to our team in need of a refreshed visual identity in order to better communicate their mission and message.
100 Word Summary
Keep Durham Beautiful approached our team with the specific design problem of developing a new logo to rejuvenate the brand. The previous logo was visually busy and not flexible enough for their needs. Their team’s requested the mark to (1) represent the city of Durham and (2) bring in the natural landscape they are dedicated to protecting. The new mark resembles a “D” shape to represent Durham — and that shape is created with three sections depicting water, trees, and the sun to signify the natural environment. Our team then designed a variety of marketing assets to launch the new identity.
