This is Crazy Making documents the experiences of a studio course during an unconventional semester.
The following is a collection of work documenting a series of projects from my studio course at NC State in the Fall of 2019. As a studio, we worked on multiple small projects that eventually amounted to a full studio exhibition in the Brooks Gallery at the College of Design. At the end of the semester, I designed, printed, and bound this booklet to encompass the work I completed and participated in.
100 Word Summary
This studio course was instructed by Denise Gonzales Crisp at NC State. During this semester, we discussed a variety of topics including ad-hocism, activity theory, Futurespective thinking, and design research methods. These readings and discussions informed our making of many, many projects— including a gallery exhibition. We made a lot of things (typically very quickly) and wrote about topics we don’t have answers to. It was a continuous learning process of trying to keep moving forward when you might not know where forward is going. Some work is “finished,” some is incomplete, but all was a part of the process.
